Quick answers

How do I record?

Press the big button and say what happened. Press it again to stop. It saves straight into the Memory Box shown under the button, in the line that says “Goes to…”. Tap that line to choose a different box first.

Where are my recordings?

Tap the three dots at the top of the screen and choose Memory Boxes. Tap a box to see what is inside, and tap the play triangle to listen.

Please don’t delete the app

Your recordings live only on your phone. If you delete the app, they are deleted too, and they can’t be brought back. If you want an extra copy, see “Save a Copy” below.

How do I save a copy of my recordings?

To save one recording, tap the three dots beside it and choose Save a Copy. To save a whole Memory Box, open the box, tap the three dots at the top, and choose Save a Copy of All Recordings. You can then put the copy in Files, email it or AirDrop it.

How do reminders work?

You can set one reminder on each Memory Box, for a date you choose. On that day you get one notification to open the box and listen back. To set, change or clear it, open the box, tap the three dots, and choose Set a Reminder or Edit Reminder. If you don’t get notifications, check that they are switched on for The Memory Button in your phone’s Settings.

What does locking a Memory Box do?

A locked box won’t take any new recordings, so what you sealed in stays as it is. You can still listen to it, and you can unlock it at any time from the box’s menu. Locking does not hide or protect the recordings with a password.

What is Minimal Mode?

Tap the three dots at the top, then Minimal Mode. It hides the words and leaves just the button. Turn it off from the same menu.

How do I send feedback during testing?

In TestFlight you can take a screenshot while using the app and tap Share Beta Feedback, or just email me at hello@thememorybutton.app.
